We are now currently installing the bespoke balustrades to the bridge on the Olympic Park. The design by us from concept drawings was type tested to comply with the relevant British/European standards and highways requirements for parapet balustrades.
This involved a test balustrade fixed to a concrete base simulating the bridge deck and deflection tests via hydraulics and linear meters.
The design passed first time. Materials of construction were steel with stainless steel grade 316 mesh infills and feature formed top handrail section. We provided all supporting structural calculations. We hope that this leads us to more work on the park and it adopts this design for the side wide specification.
This is a highly complex project process to ensure Quality Assurance requirements are achieved, our experience is second to none with respect to this type of project.
